AN ADVANCED DECOY FLARE FOR TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT
This 2 x 1" flare is used in aircraft countermeasures systems to combat advanced heat-seeking missiles employing spectral discrimination techniques. The Impulse Cartridge is fitted during manufacture of the falre and provides the means of ejecting the payload. The flare can be housed in a multiple shot magazine as fitted to countermeasure dispensing sets AN/ALE 40, 45 and 47 series, M130/M147, mbda, Alkan, Terma, MES, Rokar, SAAB Avitronics and Vinten systems for example. The flare offers improved performance, reliability and safety by way of a safe sequencer to ensure teh flare remains safe until pyrotechnically ejected from its outer case.
The DSTL 83 is a direct fit and form alternative to all other 2 x 1" flares and is suited to transport aircraft. As well as offering protection against advanced threats, it provides performance, reliability and safety by means of a Sequenced Initation Device.
