Description
The RF Modular Expendable Block (MEB) forms part of a defensive aids system to protect a host aircraft from Radar guided missile threats by providing an expendable chaff payload as a suitable alternative target or ‘decoy’ to the tracking radar.
The RF MEB has been developed to provide additional ‘shots’ in the same magazine space giving greater flexibility and an enhanced operational capability. The RF MEB contains twice the number of payloads as compared to the standard NATO stores. The MEB is a 2-part glass-filled nylon block which is interfaced to the dispenser firing system through an Interface Plate which routes the firing pulse to the appropriate cell. The chaff payload is pyrotechnically ejected using the PW11 MK2a Impulse Cartridge.
Each MEB contains 60 decoys. The MEB can be used with any 6 x 5 dispenser employing digital dispensing control such as the Terma PIDS, BAE Systems ALE-47, Thales and MES ECDS dispensing systems.
