Description
The RF MEB 84-64 forms part of a defensive aids system to protect the host aircraft from Radar guided missile threats by providing an expendable chaff payload as a suitable alternative and preferred target or ‘decoy’. The purpose of the decoy is to ensure that the Radar guided missile passes the target aircraft by an effective miss distance.
The chaff payload is pyrotechnically ejected from the RF MEB by an Impulse Cartridge fitted during manufacture. Each RF MEB contains 64 decoys. The RF MEB is designed for use in Thales system dispensers fitted with digital sequencer switching. An Interface Plate is fitted into the dispenser to provide the electrical contacts and the Vinton Vicon dispensing system has the added enhancement of a quick release capability, which enables the MEB to be changed without the use of tools.
