Whether you are a commercial or leisure marine vessel, sailing round the coast or offshore, an EPIRB should be considered a vital part of your vessels safety inventory.
The PLBs have all the benefits of the 406Mhz EPIRB except that they are registered to an individual as opposed to a vessel. A PLB is of benefit if you regularly move from boat to boat and should be considered to be a worthwhile additional safety item. Some categories of offshore sail require a PLB to be carried by each crew member.
