Description
The Aurora hand-held red distress flare, designed for use in short range signalling situations. It can easily be activated by hands that are cold and wet.
Burning time: 60 seconds at a minimum of 15,000 candela.
Visibility: 10 km at sea level and up to 20 km from an aircraft on a clear dark night. They can also be used in daylight over shorter distances.
The new signal has a hollow plastic handle so that it can be raised on a pole or fishing rod for improved chances of being seen at a greater distance.
Aurora flares are waterproof with the steel tubes able to be subjected to water and moisture without affecting the performance or operation of the flares.
The new threaded screw on caps are made from red plastic and have a raised "+" on the caps, this being the recognized tactile for red. The tactile enable easy identification in the dark.
When the cap is screwed off, a yellow plastic pull grip pops up making firing the ignition system simple and easy. Easy to follow diagrams are printed clearly on the outside of the flare.
