Are you an experienced Electrical Project Engineer with a proven track record in designing, developing, and managing electrical engineering projects? We’re looking for a Project Engineer (Electrical) to take responsibility for the management of the design, development, maintenance, and compliance of electrical systems across our Ardeer site. This role is central to ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing electrical infrastructure within a unique explosive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, company policies, and procedures; proactively report unsafe acts or conditions via the Near Miss system.
Identify the equipment, resources, and expertise required to deliver the site’s electrical engineering function.
Oversee all electrical engineering activities across site, ensuring work is completed in accordance with specifications, method statements, risk assessments, and required control measures.
Manage the ongoing testing, maintenance, upgrades, and statutory inspections of site low and high voltage electrical distribution systems.
Monitor, maintain, and update site electrical engineering standards and procedures.
Work in conjunction with site H&S and Production teams to prepare and maintain area classification reports for hazardous areas involving explosive atmospheres.
Deliver capital expenditure electrical engineering projects in compliance with site safety procedures and all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
Prepare electrical engineering design drawings and specification documents for competitive tendering processes.
Develop and submit capital expenditure proposals for CEUK Director and Group approval.
Plan, manage, and oversee on-site contractor electrical engineering works, ensuring projects are completed safely, to high quality standards, and within planned timescales and budgets.
Work with the Engineering Maintenance Department to identify cost-effective electrical maintenance solutions while ensuring compliance with safety procedures and legislation.
Support the Site Environmental Specialist in developing and implementing site energy action plans to deliver electrical efficiency improvements, energy savings, and carbon emission reductions.

Qualifications & Experience:
Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical distribution, lighting, and control systems.
Understanding of electrical systems within hazardous or explosive environments (ATEX).
Experience using AutoCAD or similar drawing packages.
IT skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671.
Project management experience.
Construction Health & Safety knowledge.
Contractor management and control experience.
Experience working within an explosive manufacturing or high-hazard industrial environment.
Experience in risk assessment and method statement preparation.
Knowledge of permit-to-work systems.
Willingness to develop knowledge of UK Explosives Regulations and Explosives Awareness within 6–12 months.
